Job Objective:

As our Family Ministries Coordinator, you will support families in our community who are seeking assistance for physical needs, personal growth opportunities, and spiritual direction. The Family Ministries Coordinator is also responsible for carrying a caseload up to 10 individuals in providing case management and care coordination services focused on enabling residents in becoming self-sufficient; You will provide and coordinate services and activities with families and communities that support spiritual vitality, healthy living, positive parenting skills, and recreational activities within the realm of strengthening the individuals and families. Services to include ministry outreach at the facility and within the community.

What You Will Do:



  • Provide initial intake to determine needs of families seeking physical assistance, complete comprehensive assessments and action plans with clients.
  • Coordinate with the Spiritual and Emotional Care Lead in the ongoing care of residents in the community.
  • Develop case plan for each resident on caseload of up to 10 individuals, within 24-72 hours of admission to Center, addressing the Social Determinants of Health; Meet weekly with resident to review case plan to review progress and barriers; coordinates and links residents to supportive community resources.
  • Coordinate and/or facilitate life skill courses for fiscal management, parenting skills, and offer focused group Bible Studies, and other topics.
  • Develop individualized educational, health, nutrition, and family support plans for all participants for the purpose of furthering family goals, plans, and success strategies; provide parenting classes/workshops and develop action plans to improve healthy living and family dynamics.
  • Provide ministry services to residents and individuals within the community via outreach efforts; collaborate with Lead Care Coordinator in street outreach efforts.


  • Oversee and facilitate summer children activities/camp including residents at the WCC, Barton Apartments, and Carpenter Center; may provide transportation for parents and children.
  • Complete all required documentation in an accurate, timely manner using SIMS-Salvation Army Information Management System and Client Track and adhering to the National Social Services Standards.
  • Other tasks as assigned by leadership


Minimum Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal education, experience, skills, and/or abilities required for this position.

Education: Associate's/Bachelor's degree in Social Work, psychology, or related field is strongly preferred.

Background Checks: Position requires a background check to be completed, and all background check results will be reviewed.

Experience: Prior work experience in a social setting providing services to persons in crisis; comfort and competence in providing spiritual care and ministry outreach.

Certifications: Must have a valid driver's license and maintain The Salvation Army Driver's qualification standard; must complete Safe From Harm training within the first 90 days of employment; must complete Caseworker Certification Program within 120 days of employment; CPR certification required within 90 days of hire date.

Skills/Abilities:



  • Able to speak, write and understand English in a manner sufficient for effective communication with leadership, field personnel, and clientele
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft products and ability to learn electronic reporting systems
  • Able to represent the Christian mission of The Salvation Army and provide guidance and support to individuals and families seeking to develop in their spiritual health.


Supervisory Responsibility: No supervisory responsibilities

Physical Requirements Include:



  • Good speaking, hearing and vision ability, and excellent manual dexterity
  • Lifting, pulling, and pushing of materials up to 25 pounds
  • May require bending, squatting, walking
  • May require standing for extended periods


Travel: Some traveling required.

Working Conditions: Work is performed in a typical office, residential environment; may require some weekend and evening work
