About the Job

Primary responsibilities:
Specific technical/bench-work research (70%):
- Experiment design and breeding to generate mouse cohorts of specific genetic strains.
- Mouse handling, including ip injections, survival surgery and tissue harvest.
- Independent data analysis and presentation of final results
- Keep detailed records of all experiments and procedures in laboratory notebooks, databases, spreadsheets, and web-based applications.
- Figure prep, manuscript editing and other independent tasks as needed.

Other laboratory or management duties (30%):
- Prepare media, enzymes, and solutions under sterile conditions in large quantities.
- Work under the Lab Manager to manage day to day laboratory operations by coordinating shipping and receiving, ordering supplies, inventory updates and general laboratory organization
- Follow established biological, chemical and physical safety procedures and train new personnel
- Help monitor and train undergraduate student workers.
- Requires the ability to work occasional weekend hours

Qualifications

All required qualifications must be documented on application materials

Required Qualifications:
- BA/BS degree plus at least four years of relevant experience or a combination of education and relevant work experience to equal at least eight years
- Extensive experience with mice, in all areas of their use for experiments.
- Experience with multi-parameter flow cytometry on primary mouse immune cells
- Experience with single cell analysis

Preferred Qualifications:
- PhD in related field
- Experience in genotyping and tissue culture work
- Strong interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills; comfort in working in a team
