Primary Purpose

The Fleet Manager is responsible for planning, directing, managing, coordinating and supervising the fleet management program. Under the leadership of the Supply Chain Director of Operations, the Fleet Manager will supervise the acquisition, assignment, utilization, maintenance, repair, replacement and disposal of the fleet vehicles. The Fleet Manager serves as the primary contact concerning the vehicle fleet and operations. The Fleet Manager will be responsible for the implementation of the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and for making updates as necessary to ensure policies are current with federal, state and local laws.

Minimum Specifications

Education:

  • Associate degree required;
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in fleet or asset management.

Equivalent Education and/or Experience:

  • May have an equivalent combination of education and experience to substitute for education and experience requirements.

Certification/Registration/Licensure:

  • Valid Texas driver's license required

Required Tests for Placement:

  • N/A

Skills or Special Abilities:

  • Knowledge of GPS systems utilized with fleet vehicles.
  • Problem solving skills
  • Analytical thinking and process improvement track record

Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with customers to ensure adherence to the fleet management Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures to ensure efficient fleet operations.
  • Manage vehicle purchases, developing standards of vehicle to be included in the fleet.
  • Prepare and justify budget submissions, ensure resources are allocated to areas appropriate for the economical and efficient operation of the fleet needs.
  • Establish fuel program guidelines including access to fuel cards.
  • Develop fleet life cycle plan to determine replacement intervals.
  • Manage the fleet software system Samsara, including report generation for vehicle losses. Proficient in the use of GPS systems to monitor driving patterns of employees, such as speeding, excessive application of brakes, accidents, stolen vehicles, employee performance and vehicle maintenance and maintenance history.
  • Collaborate with Legal & Risk departments pertaining to insurance, missing/lost titles, and stolen or wrecked vehicles
  • Oversee annual vehicle inspections per the SOP.
  • Collaborate with Office of Talent Management to ensure employees that utilize the fleet have a valid driver's license.
