Job Description

As a Commodity Manager, you will be a part of the Global Direct Strategic Sourcing Organization within our Integrated Supply Chain (ISC) group. You will lead and guide the strategy for sourcing and procurement across a given set of commodities. You will also work with teams including Quality, Product Management, Engineering, Materials, and Logistics. With guidance from the Sourcing Manager, you will develop the sourcing strategy for the assigned commodities and suppliers, using input from the sourcing team and important global/regional team members within the business units. The sourcing strategy will guide the continuous improvement of Rockwell's Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for the assigned commodities as well as maintain an ethical, sustainable, and resilient supply chain.

You will report to our Strategic Sourcing Manager and work a hybrid schedule.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Develop the sourcing strategy for assigned commodities.
  • Once a sourcing strategy has been developed, the Commodity Manager will communicate, and manage business unit compliance with the strategy.
  • Must be successful at managing and influencing across teams.
  • The Commodity Manager will be a catalyst for change to achieve our goals and addressing barriers to change.
  • On an ongoing basis, the Commodity Manager will remain current on supply market trends, supplier economics, and best practice sourcing.
  • Utilize commodity knowledge to negotiate best cost for Rockwell.
  • Responsible for Global Supplier Management. On an ongoing basis, the Commodity Manager will monitor and evaluate supplier performance (quality, delivery, service levels) of all suppliers.
  • Conduct regular strategic reviews with suppliers and team members to ensure continuous improvement of the supply base.

The Essentials - You Will Have:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Legal authorization to work in the US is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future.
  • This position requires limited travel to other Rockwell Automation locations to support assigned business unit segment (20% Domestic & International).

The Preferred - You Might Also Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum five (5) years of progressive experience in buying, project management or operations management.
  • Experience negotiating with suppliers.
  • Basic knowledge of electronic commodities.
  • Manage projects requiring identification of goals, resources and approaches.
  • Working knowledge of purchasing systems is essential, preferably SAP.
  • This position is part of a job family. Experience will be the determining factor for position level and compensation
