Areas of focus include superconducting qubits, trapped ions, integrated photonics, and solid-state quantum sensing. The group's innovative research is supported by on-site state-of-the-art fabrication tools, close partnership with universities and industry, extensive test and measurement infrastructure, and daily collaboration with the 1700+ Ph.D-level scientists within Lincoln Laboratory. Job Description
The group seeks a full-time experimental quantum scientist to drive advances in quantum sensing. Our work centers on developing technologies that leverage quantum properties of materials, such as nitrogen-vacancy defects in diamond, to provide critical capabilities spanning a wide application space. The successful candidate will join MIT Lincoln Laboratory's world-class team of researchers bringing quantum sensors to fruition. The successful candidate will be responsible for furthering optical magnetic microscopy technologies, which will include setting experimental plans and directions; building optical test beds and prototypes, developing measurement control software and analysis pipelines, performing experiments and field tests, and developing new techniques and optimizing performance in concert with application requirements and systems analyses. Candidates should be familiar with quantum theory and experiment and should be experienced with optical and microscopy systems. Essential requirements include highly proficient laboratory and analytical skills, excellent communication and presentation experience, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively across a diverse team of experts. Members of the Technical Staff are expected to mentor and supervise more junior researchers, lead small teams of colleagues, contribute to program development and management, and help shape future research directions.
