DEP Intern - Coastal Resources Management Program (College)

In this position, you will support water resources planning for the Coastal Resources Management Program within the Interstate Water Resources Management Office at the Department of Environmental Protection. You will utilize and broaden your scientific, environmental, and mapping knowledge to address program activities within the state and the Delaware Estuary (Delaware, Philadelphia, and Bucks Counties) and Lake Erie (Erie County) coastal zones. Activities will focus on coastal hazards, wetlands, public access, grant management, Geographic Information Systems (GIS)/remote sensing, ocean resources/invasive species, and public involvement.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time internship that will run from 5/1/2025 through 8/29/2025
• Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch
• Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, on a schedule that aligns with the supervisor. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.

QUALIFICATIONS
Internship Requirements:

• Current full-time enrollment in a two-year degree, bachelor's degree or advanced degree program in one of the following acceptable majors:
  • Marine Biology
  • Environmental Science/Studies
  • Biology/Environmental Biology

Additional Requirements:

• This position requires possession of a valid Class C non-commercial driver's license.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.
