Job Description
The purpose of this position is to provide dining services support to the College. This is accomplished by preparing food, menu planning, stocking, delivering orders and dining room work. Other duties may include but are not limited to providing cashier support, maintaining cleanliness in all areas, working event concessions and catered events.

This position will provide coverage at catered events and assist at the campus cafes event concessions when needed during evenings and weekends.

This is a non-exempt staff position and includes a comprehensive benefits package offering medical, dental and vision coverage; generous paid time off; tuition assistance; and retirement savings.

Employees of Harford Community College, including instructors for online and virtual courses, must be residents of Maryland or the contiguous states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia or the District of Columbia; non-residents are expected to relocate to meet this requirement.

Required Education
High school diploma or GED
Required Experience
Minimum of 2 years of food service experience and 1 year of cooking experience as a prep or line cook
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Assist in the preparation and cooking of meals, with a focus on large-scale food production. Valid driver's license.
  • Follow standardized recipes and portion controls to ensure consistency in taste and presentation for large crowds.
  • Assist with the preparation and service for catered events, large-scale dining functions, and other special occasions.
  • Ability to operate and maintain kitchen equipment such as ovens, grills, and dishwashers.
  • Customer service skills
  • Must be at least 25 years of age to drive campus vehicles.
  • Cashier experience
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in a fast-paced environment.


Preferred Qualifications

  • ServSafe Certification/Alcohol Awareness Trained.
  • ServSafe or Food Handler and/or Sanitation Certification
  • Food service preparation and cooking experience for small and large events
  • Supervisory experience

Hours per Week 40 - 100%
General Weekly Work Schedule
Must be flexible and available to work evenings and weekends for events.

The general schedule will be Monday to Friday, between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
The schedule is made according to the catering and event calendar. Final schedule to be determined by the supervisor.
