This position is responsible for coordinating the care of 30-40 patients per week, primarily outpatients. The NP performs direct patient care services, including evaluating and consulting on patients, following up pre- and post-motility and endoscopic procedures, reviewing and acting on results of blood chemistries and radiographic studies, discussing results with patients and referring physicians, and scheduling procedures and next steps as needed. Responsibilities also include performing motility studies (e.g., Sitz Marker Studies) and participating in GI motility collaborative research. Coordination of patient care will involve outpatient clinics at the Medical Center campus and other off-site practice locations, as well as outpatient motility procedures. The NP will work closely with all members of our Motility team, including motility nurses, to assist with patient care issues. This position is essential to increasing the efficiency of the clinical service and vital to a well-functioning division. The NP activity significantly increases division revenue through increased throughput and overall increased GI attending productivity, manifested as increased motility procedural volume and referrals.
