About the Position
The MaineHealth Cancer Care (MHCC) invites hematologist-oncologists with subspecialty interest in Hematology or pure Hematologists to join our dynamic team at MaineHealth Pen Bay Hospital in Rockport, ME, and MaineHealth Waldo Hospital in Belfast, ME. This is a fantastic opportunity to practice comprehensive hematology care in a rapidly expanding, supportive environment.

  • A Growing & Collaborative Team: Both hospitals are home to rapidly expanding hematology and oncology practices, with Pen Bay staffed by 2 oncologists and 2 NPs, and WCGH with 1 oncologist and 1 DNP.
  • Rapidly Growing Hematology Practice: A large number of complex malignant and classical hematology cases with an established referral base. Anticipated need for care of patient receiving novel therapies such as BiTE therapy.
  • Tertiary Support: Access to advanced tertiary care hematology services at MHCC and Maine Medical Center (MMC) in Portland, the state's leading tertiary care hospital. You will be a faculty within the currently seven member and rapidly expanding Division of Hematology, MHCC.
  • Comprehensive Patient Support: Work alongside dedicated pharmacists, nurse navigators, social workers, palliative care providers, and allied staff within a well-equipped on-site infusion center. Close collaboration with a network of shared services between Pen Bay and WCGH.
  • Flexibility & Balance: Full-time position (4 days of outpatient care and 1 day of administrative time). Accommodations can be made for those seeking to scale down full practices and seeking part time work.
  • Competitive Call Schedule: Phone-based call shared with Pen Bay Medical Center and Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick, ME (approximately 1 week every 6 weeks). First calls taken by the NPs.

Qualifications

  • MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
  • Successful completion of residency/fellowship in oncology or hematology-oncology.
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in oncology or hematology-oncology.
  • New graduates and early-career professionals are strongly encouraged to apply.
