The Division of Enrollment Management is a key campus thought partner that provides collaborative leadership in university-wide efforts, utilizing systematic, innovative, and synergistic approaches to leverage a data-informed enrollment strategy to improve market distinctiveness, and execute the campus strategic plan.The division comprises the offices of Enrollment Management, Financial Aid & Scholarships, University Registrar, and Undergraduate Admissions.

The mission of the University Registrar is to provide academic support services in an atmosphere of prompt, accurate, and friendly service to the campus community through practices consistent with the mission and values of the university. The Office is responsible for maintaining student records, issuing reports of grades, and distributing official publications.


Your Role on the Team

Enforces and implements system-wide residency policy as mandated by UCOP and the UC Regents. As one of three University staff authorized to designate residence classifications for the entire UCI campus, incumbent determines residency classifications and advises the University community regarding residency related topics. Utilizes immigration law, tax law, financial and accounting principles in assigning classifications in conformance with policy. Manages, tests, and periodically reviews electronic SLR application, including user acceptance testing and ensures application conforms to annual changes in law and policy. Accurate designation of nonresident classification has a substantial financial impact on the University with nearly 28% of incoming undergraduates paying the nonresident tuition rate, amounting to over $113M annually.

Provides protected student specific information about enrollment, grades, and other pertinent student record information. Applies professional Registrar student service based concepts to student record functions. Provides information and local enforcement of institutional, state, and federal policies, procedures, and regulations.

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $63,800- $75,750 (Annual).

Required:

  • Thorough knowledge of policies, regulations, and practices with student records services.
  • Thorough knowledge of University policies, processes, and procedures and of Federal and California laws pertaining to the privacy rights of students and access to student information.
  • Ability to apply thorough knowledge of policies to a variety of individual situations. Recommends procedures to ensure compliance in a diverse learning community.
  • Strong problem identification, critical thinking, and problem solving skills; judgment and decision-making ability. Ability to assess processes and implement improvements.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines in an environment of frequent interruptions and distractions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Active listening skills. Customer service orientation. Interpersonal skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs and productivity software including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, email, and web browsers.
  • Ability to answer several incoming phone lines in a courteous and timely manner.
  • Ability to work with people from diverse cultures. Utilizes excellent constituent service skills with all interactions.
  • Strong ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with campus departments, UC campuses, and external agencies.
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • 3-5 years experience or equivalent training

Preferred:

  • Thorough knowledge of particular Registrar core functions (e.g., degree requirements, special enrollment, veterans' benefits, and residency).
  • Thorough knowledge of Student Information Systems, Student Billing Systems, and Online Statement of Legal Residence.
  • Thorough knowledge of U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service laws, federal regulations and guidelines, and state residency statutes pertaining to residency matters.

Special Conditions:

  • Periodic travel required.
  • Successful completion of a Department of Justice (DOJ) Live Scan background check.
