Position Purpose

Under minimal supervision, the Compensation Specialist supports the development, implementation and communication of compensation programs, pay practices, and policies. The Compensation Specialist is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the job evaluation framework, position control, and pay practices to ensure company-wide consistency.

Essential Duties

  • Conducts job analysis and job evaluation processes; reviews job descriptions and determines level
  • Ensures job descriptions and position titles are consistent with job level and exemption status
  • Inputs, updates, and revises job classifications, job descriptions, salary structures, job levels, bonus programs, and/or changes pertaining to new hires, organizational structure, pay, and positions within applicable HR systems
  • Responsible for the accuracy of Position Control; reviews and approves workflows, making updates accordingly
  • Supports the annual compensation cycle by addressing questions, updating documentation and auditing data
  • Prepares salary survey submissions, ensuring accuracy of benchmark matches and data compilation
  • Ensures that compensation related system policies and procedures are accurate, updated, and stored in appropriate applications and systems
  • Ensures data quality and integrity in all related HR owned databases, systems, and interfaces in areas of responsibility; initiates and performs necessary audits to test data and revises data as necessary
  • Develops and maintains end user documentation and training materials for compensation cycles and position control to ensure all system users are current on company processes and policy
  • Provides training/guidance as needed to end users (broader HR team, Managers and HRBPs)
  • Documents and maintains compensation administration processes and procedures for internal playbook
  • Manages records and monitors compliance with all relevant laws and regulations; protects confidentiality of highly sensitive information
  • Compiles and executes annual total rewards statements
  • Provides employee support for routine benefits inquiries

Minimum Requirements

Education and Experience



  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, or equivalent years of experience
  • 3 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 1 year focused on compensation
  • Experience in job analysis and internal/external market review using survey data; KornFerry Job Architect experience preferred
  • Proven experience with HCM systems; SAP/SuccessFactors preferred



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities



  • Strong understanding of general HR concepts, processes and data, including rules and procedures
  • Ability to manage confidential, sensitive information
  • Advanced MS Office skills
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Understanding of functional groups that impact or are impacted by HR systems and processes
  • Excellent at prioritizing multiple tasks, managing conflicting deadlines and working effectively in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Strong writing skills and the ability to create effective job descriptions



Certificates and Licenses



  • Certified Compensation Professional preferred
  • Driver's License required


Working Conditions

  • General office environment
  • Required to drive automotive vehicles and/or equipment
  • Occasional travel between facilities

California Pay Transparency Disclaimer: This is a Exempt position. The pay range for this position is $76,355.00 to $119,396.00. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role. Actual placement within range will be contingent upon a number of factors, including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, education, experience, internal equity and alignment with market data.
