Job Summary

Perform a variety of work in the maintenance and repair of buildings and grounds in multiple locations, including carpentry and painting tasks.

Primary Duties

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. These duties and responsibilities will be rated on the Annual Performance Review.

  • Responsible for performing minor and major troubleshooting and repairs to all buildings and facilities. Repairs can include, but are not limited to general maintenance, electrical report, HVAC repair, general carpentry, plumbing and masonry work.

  • Responsible for performing basic rough and finish carpentry work and prepares various surfaces for paint, enamel, lacquer, varnish, or stain or repairs wall coverings.

  • Responsible for providing routine general maintenance for rental properties including coordination of outside vendors.

  • Responsible for responding in a timely manner to scheduled/unscheduled tenant requests for a variety of maintenance issues.

  • Assist in Loading and unloading materials manually, off or on pallets, platforms, and/or boxes.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Perform or assist in building, grounds, and equipment maintenance as required

  • Assist in all Freight and Material Handling as needed.

  • Assists in the scheduled/unscheduled upkeep and housekeeping of the Loading Dock and Warehouse storage areas.

  • Complies and coordinates with all policies and procedures.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or other designee Comply with OSHA guidelines.

  • Participate in all other training required by funding source(s) and/or the Corporation such as Human Rights training.

  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications: Education, Experience, and Certification(s)

  • High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) required.

  • Minimum seven (7) to ten (10) years work experience in carpentry and painting required.

  • Minimum two (2) years experience providing maintenance and repairs of buildings is required.

  • Professional certifications in HVAC and electrical work preferred.

  • Valid driver's license and good motor vehicle record (MVR) required.

  • CDL license and driving experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must have the ability to provide own tools.

  • Affordable housing/HUD experience required

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondences, and memos, labels and numbers

  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situation to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

  • Basic ability to operate a computer using Microsoft Office software.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
