HJF is seeking a part time Pathologist II to provide histology image analysis and annotation as well as data entry and quality control, continuous monitoring and archiving of pathologic and epidemiological data of MCC Biobank samples. Responsible for preparation of Biobank medical data documents such as medical abstracts and quality control records for Biobank participants and associated biospecimens. Participates in establishment and execution of special research projects in which the Biobank is directed to engage. Reports directly to the Director of the MCC Biobank.

This position will be in support of the John P. Murtha Cancer Center Research Program (MCCRP) located at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC), in Bethesda, Maryland.

Responsibilities

  • Performs Pathological annotation of tissue samples in support of Murtha Cancer Center research efforts to include the MCC Biobank, Applied Proteogenomics OrganizationaL Learning and Outcomes (APOLLO), Oncology Research Information Exchange Network (ORIEN), and University of Virginia (UVA) projects.
  • Provides general pathology services.
  • Responsible for accurate entry of all pathology-related data into the biomedical informatics platform and datasheets, prepares reports for partner military treatment facilities (MTF), Veterans Affairs (VA) hospitals, the Joint Pathology Center (JPC), and civilian sites.
  • Supports the Director in maintaining full compliance of the MCC Biobank with all applicable requirements of the College of American Pathologists (CAP), Department of Defense (DoD), WRNMMC, The Joint Commission, and other appropriate regulatory agencies.
  • Maintains positive relationships with various allied pathology units to include WRNMMC Department of Pathology, Chan Soon-Shiong Medical Center at Windber, and the Joint Pathology Center (JPC).
  • Participates in scientific committees of the MCC Biobank by reviewing and presenting assigned research protocols and contributes to the Pathologists Working Group.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Doctoral Degree- MD or DO
  • Minimum of 3-5 years experience required

Licenses and Certifications

  • Licensure to practice medicine within the continental United States; Board certified in Anatomic Pathology.
  • Maintains credentials at a licensed medical facility (hospital, clinic, or similar institution).

Work Environment

  • This position will take place primarily in an office setting.

Compensation

  • The hourly pay range for this position is $57.98-$105.77. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
