Summary of Position Functions
The Business Development Manager will focus on state and local government (SLG) opportunities throughout the State of Missouri and is crucial in driving our growth and expanding our presence within the public sector.

Essential Position Functions

  • Leverage understanding of local government infrastructure needs, energy demands, and budget realities to build partnerships and identify potential projects.
  • Stay informed of local, state, and federal legislation impacting the ESCO industry and SLG market opportunities.
  • Guide SLG partners through Veregy's infrastructure analysis up to and including project implementation.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to develop and present tailored solutions.
  • Attend and help plan State and National Conferences, speaking opportunities, and special events.
  • Travel throughout Missouri for customer meetings and networking events.

Education and Qualifications
To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A) in Public Administration, Engineering, or a related field from a four-year college or university; or three+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of local government experience in a senior staff/director/manager position.
  • Direct experience with various construction and infrastructure improvement projects.
  • Strong understanding of public procurement processes and regulations.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to identify and qualify leads effectively.
  • Ability to maintain an in-depth knowledge of Missouri's local government landscape.
  • Capacity to remain self-motivated with an entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Capability to build strategic relationships and maintain connections through networking.
  • Ability to maintain a visible and active presence across the state of Missouri.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to quickly grasp utilization skills for CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Travel Requirement

  • Consistent travel required for this position.
