The Contracting Services Department is seeking a Deputy Director of Contracting to provide leadership, direction, and management of acquisition and logistics personnel. As a senior leader reporting to the Director of Contracting, the Deputy will supervise and guide multiple Senior Managers performing procurement and logistics functions, including research and development, commercial and non-commercial services, facilities/construction, stockrooms, and shipping/receiving. The Deputy will assist the Director of Contracting with strategic leadership, management, oversight, and direction for an organization of approximately one hundred staff. This position will work in close partnership with another Deputy, whose duties include oversight of the Laboratory's main DoD contract, along with multiple other contracts and agreements, The successful candidate will have high visibility across the entire laboratory and have a key role with senior Laboratory personnel in conducting educational seminars, developing risk-based acquisition strategies, executing subcontracting practices to meet customer needs, and aiding the Laboratory's research and management personnel in executing the Laboratory's critical mission for the Department of Defense and other government and commercial customers. This role will frequently provide data to, engage with, and interact with U.S. Government oversight functions, audit offices, and other external parties, as well as interact with MIT's main campus procurement and financial teams.
