Job Summary

The Preclinical Therapeutics Core (https://cancer.ucsf.edu/research/cores/preclinical) is recruiting a new animal technician to meet the demand for in vivo studies. In addition to animal works, the technician will work closely with PTC lab manager to plan and organize lab operations and weekly schedule. They will also assist PTC manager in managing studies and communicating with clients.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $30.89 - $49.68 (Hourly Rate).

Department Description

The UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center (HDFCCC) is one of only two cancer centers in the Bay Area to receive the prestigious designation of "comprehensive" from the National Cancer Institute (NCI).
The HDFCCC integrates the work of researchers and clinicians dedicated to four fundamental pursuits: laboratory research into the causes of cancer progression; clinical research to translate new knowledge into viable treatments; compassionate, state-of-the-art patient care; and population research that can lead to improvements in prevention, early detection, and quality-of-life for those living with cancer. The twin pillars of precision medicine and precision population health guide research and treatment at HDFCCC.

Required Qualifications

• BA/BS with a degree in a related science and two or more years of recent, directly related work experience, utilizing the techniques or methods required by the position and demonstrating technical expertise in these areas; and/or equivalent experience/training.
• Self-motivated, dedicated and adaptable to change.
• Will be willing to be trained in surgical procedures and imaging techniques.
• Excellent communication skills and have the ability to work at high standard with a care to detail.
• Able to work well within a team, to multitask and prioritize, and be willing to work flexible hours including occasional weekends/holidays based on rotation.
• Good computer skills and familiarity with MS Office applications.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with mice in a research setting.
