The College of DuPage is a comprehensive community college located 27 miles west of downtown Chicago, vitally connected to our local area for over 50 years. Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
The Career Services Specialist will work with a diverse population of students, alumni, and District 502 community members in support of their career preparation and job search goals.

  • Meet with students, alumni, and DuPage county community members to assist with the creation and review of professional development materials.
  • Provide job seekers with the resources to search for employment opportunities and educate them on hiring expectations of employers when completing job applications and conducting interview.
  • Review and provide constructive feedback on professional documents including resumes, cover letters, elevator pitches, and LinkedIn profiles via electronic submission and/or in person.
  • Measure employment outcomes using available graduate survey data; Analyze employer and student data from multiple systems to provide up to date information for planning and program development.
  • Facilitate in-person and virtual career preparation workshops for students, community residents, alumni and outside partner organizations (ie local job clubs, libraries, unemployment offices, etc) in order to assist job seekers in choosing a career field.
  • Partner with academic programs and faculty to conduct career workshops, events and classroom presentations on a variety of professional development topics.
  • Assist with all departmental events and programs such as career fairs, open houses, and information nights.
  • Support Career Service Center marketing by assisting in the development of initiatives, assisting in coordination of social media marketing and bringing awareness of important career topics and events to students.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Manager of Career Services.


  • Qualifications:

    • Education
      • Bachelors degree in career counseling, education, human resources, business administration, or a related field required.
      • Masters degree.
      • Recruiting experience a plus.
    • Experience
      • Prior experience working with students of all ages and must be able to demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective, professional relationships with employers and the professional community required.
      • Must possess a comprehensive knowledge of counseling and career development skills preferred.


    Working Conditions:

  • Computer, printer, multi-line telephone, fax machine, copier, calculator, projector, MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SARS, CCN, MyAccess, Ellucian and the Internet.
  • Normal office environment with significant walk-in and telephone traffic.
  • Frequent contact with employers and graduates that may require travel (car) and occasional evening and weekend hours.
  • This position requires a background check and drug screen.

    Hiring Range:
    Classified 11 Hourly/24.00 - 26.50

    Anticipated Start: January/February 2025
