Overview

Provide procurement and analytical support to O.R. management team & Anesthesia department. Maintains and updates operations relating to Epic. Answers telephone, taking and delivering messages; schedules advance operative procedures and verifies scheduled procedures with the office managers/surgeon via fax copies and signatures one day prior; correspondence with surgeons offices and within the YNHHS offices, procedure cards, and maintains surgeon Block Time in accordance with our established release time. Provides information of surgical implants and miscellaneous supplies to the Product and equipment Coordinator and/or the OR Leadership Team. Assists the OR manager in managing the all cases scheduled. Promotes Quality Service Excellence Standards.Responsible for triggering the charge capture for Perioperative Services, which includes the Operating Room , Ambulatory Surgery, Surgery, HASC, Joint Venture, Anesthesia, PACU, GI, Pain, Bariatrics, and 23 Hour Stays. Maintains a liaison relationship with the Finance Department for all charge capture issues.
Supports revenue data needs and provides statistics needed for financial trend and productivity reports. Supports the OR Manager by providing expertise necessary related to the charge capture process.
Monitors daily the charge capture process to ensure timely and accurate charging. Responsible for maintaining departmental policies and procedures for charging. works in collaboration with the OR Scheduler and OR Financiaal coordinator as needed.

Responsibilities

  • 1. Screens, refers, or handles all incoming calls to ensure that accurate and timely departmental communication is facilitated and that the department is presented in a positive manner.
    • 1.1 Answers telephone within three (3) rings in a courteous manner, identifying department, self and position at all times.
  • 2. Transcribes and types departmental reports, correspondence, memos, etc., to facilitate ongoing communication and efficient departmental operations.Input all data into the computer.
    • 2.1 Types departmental reports, statistics, correspondence, budget, memos, minutes, and other projects from notes and drafts in an accurate , neat, and timely manner; and distributes as needed.
  • 3. Maintains responsibility for general clerical support functions to department to ensure efficient utilization of time. Completes errands as requested.
    • 3.1 Sorts and distributes mail according to procedure as assigned.
  • 4. Provide and manage secretarial support to the O.R. Management team andAesthesia Department.
    • 4.1 Provides direction and assistance to secretarial support staff and schedulers.
  • 5. Provide procurement support to the Operating Room and Anesthesia department
    • 5.1 Assists the OR Equipment/Business Manager with projects
  • 6. The staff member must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit. Qualifications

EDUCATION

Secretarial School or two (2) years business college preparatory preferred, knowledge of Medical Terminology preferred, typing and computer skills.

PHYSICAL DEMAND

May be exposed to infectious diseases, hazardous waste and radiation.
Standing/walking most of the day and occasionally working in awkward positions. Assists in moving patients and holds extremities for surgical prep. Helps lift heavy objects ten (10) to twenty (20) pounds and also assists in moving of patients ranging from one hundred (100) to four hundred (400) pounds. Moderate stress related to patient care.
