Description of primary duties and responsibilities: |
Primary Purpose of the Organization:
The Division of Academic Affairs offers high-quality programs that prepare graduates to assume responsible leadership and service roles in professions and communities in southeastern North Carolina and beyond. Through engaging instruction, enriching educational experiences, and strong academic support services, the division promotes the success of all students, including students of color, students from diverse socio-economic backgrounds, adult learners, and military-affiliated students. The division supports research initiatives and creative activities that serve the needs of the region and state, strengthen programs and student learning, and enhance faculty expertise and accomplishment. In collaboration with community organizations, the military, and other educational institutions - including international partners - the division increases access to higher education; provides service learning and educational enrichment opportunities; strengthens graduates' preparation for success in careers and graduate/professional education; promotes economic development and enhances the intellectual and cultural climate of the university and region. The Division of Academic Affairs promotes continuous improvement through effective planning, assessment, and use of assessment results for improvement. |
Description of Work Continued: |
Primary Purpose of the Position:
The Graduation Navigator is responsible for assisting students in all aspects of graduation. This position assists students with navigating the university's academic policies, which will increase retention and graduation rates. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, individual advising sessions, assisting students with declaring and changing majors, academic progress discussions, development of academic goals, and directing students to campus resources to support academic success. This position works with departments within the academic affairs and student affairs divisions, including admissions, financial aid, registrar, counseling center, student engagement, and department chairs. The Graduation Navigator is required to know about all undergraduate university programs. The successful candidate will have an excellent knowledge of university academic policies and can recommend appropriate course substitutions or adjustments for every undergraduate degree program. The Graduation Navigator will meet regularly with department chairs to remain knowledgeable of program requirements and any program changes. The Graduation Navigator will work with the Director of the Bronco One Stop and the Executive Director for Adult Learners, Transfer, and Military Students to develop programs and practices that will identify and correct challenges to degree completion. This position is designated as Time - Limited, continuation of position is contingent upon the continuing availability of non-state funds. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: |
Bachelor's degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. |
Knowledge skills and abilities: |
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent understanding and operational abilities with budget processes.
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and high-pressure environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, with the ability to learn new or updated software.

- Excellent time management skills.
