Technical Designer - Architecture - Senior

Your Role

We are seeking a Senior Technical Designer to join an exciting, large-scale, mixed-use (including: commercial, residential, cultural, transit, retail, entertainment, hospitality, education, etc.) international project, offering the opportunity to be an integrated and active member of a diverse, multi-disciplinary team, working alongside multiple Gensler offices. This role will sit in the Chicago office.

What You Will Do

  • Develop all phases of projects, including programming, consulting, strategy, conceptual designs, presentations, schematic design, design development, construction documents and production

  • Manage client, team and project coordination, including full documentation preparation and discipline coordination with structural, MEP, VT, lighting, AV, landscape and civil consultants

  • Support daily communication between project team, clients, vendors, contractors, consultants, and building and permitting officials

  • Provide technical guidance and innovative solutions, including design resiliency expertise to resolve complex technical and design challenges

  • Develop and maintain project documentation, including drawings, project manuals and specifications

  • Conduct and document site visits, prepare field reports, process submittals, substitution requests, and RFI's during construction

Your Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in architecture, Master's degree preferred

  • 10+ years of related project experience, with a track record of successfully leading projects of varying scale

  • LEED accreditation a plus

  • International design experience a plus

  • Flexibility to focus on a single client with a variety of project types or multiple projects in various stages of development

  • Strong leadership, communication, and relationship management skills

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Outstanding graphic presentation skills

  • Proficiency in Revit, Rhinoceros, Adobe Creative Suite and MS Office.

The base salary range is $90,000 to $116,000, commensurate with relevant experience. In addition, standard benefits will be offered, and employees will be eligible for bonuses.
