HJF is seeking a Clinical Research Assistant II to perform on-site data collection for a randomized clinical trial. The clinical research assistant will recruit, screen, and enroll participants for the study; collect baseline and follow-up data; perform data entry; conduct qualitative research interviews; manage research data; attend research team meetings; and assist with data analysis and report writing.

This position will be in support of a randomized clinical trial at the Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska. The aim of the clinical trial is to investigate the efficacy of music therapy for chronic pain management in active duty service members.

Responsibilities

  • Recruits, screens, and enrolls participants. Collects baseline and follow up data. Checks for validity and accuracy of data ensuring compliance with quality assurance requirements and clinical relevance.
  • Performs data entry
  • Tracks enrollment and assessment completion statistics
  • Assists with secure data storage and management as per study protocol
  • Conducts semi-structured interviews with study participants
  • Schedules treatment and outcome assessment sessions and places reminder calls to study participants
  • Assists with coding of qualitative data
  • Performs scientific literature searches, identification and retrieval.
  • Performs administrative duties such as: assist with writing of study reports, manuscripts and presenting studies; develop data collection packets; assist music therapist with preparing session-related materials; and provide data tracking updates for weekly study meetings.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree Social Science (i.e., Sociology, Psychology) or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years experience required.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to understand and utilize scientific/medical terminology and research theory in both oral and written communications.
  • Ability to use measurable and verifiable information for making decisions or judgments.
  • Skill in using excel and SPSS
  • Skill in using REDcap preferred
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Outstanding communication skills (oral and written English)
  • Able to collaborates with diverse people in a respectful manner
  • Able to function in accordance with established protocols
  • Experience with screening and consenting human research participants
  • Experience conducting outcome assessments and managing research data
  • Experience maintaining research data records as per study protocols
  • CPR certified preferred
  • CITI training certifications preferred
  • The ability to obtain and/or maintain a T1 Public Trust with CAC

Physical Capabilities

  • Lifting: Requires lifting materials up to 10 lbs.
  • Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods

Work Environment

  • This position will take place primarily in an office setting.

Compensation

  • The hourly range for this position is $20.99-$29.81. Actual hourly pay will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
