The STEM Career Readiness Coordinator, reporting to the Director of Career Development, provides front-line career development assistance to Saint Xavier University STEM undergraduate and graduate students and alumni, including individualized career development appointments, presentations, and resource development. The coordinator works closely with the director and associate director to identify and communicate employer needs with students and prepare students for successful employment after graduation. This Title III grant-funded position is a 2-year appointment that will be renewed according to departmental needs.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

- Conduct one-on-one appointments with students and alumni for resume building, interview preparation and overall career development, tailoring advice to individual needs.
- Communicate employer expectations for post-graduate employment with students in both appointments, workshops, and presentations.
- Deliver engaging presentations to classes on career development topics such as resume writing, job search, networking, and interviewing.
- Act as a resource for faculty seeking to integrate career development content into courses.
- Review and approve employers and positions within the Handshake career management system.
- Plan, coordinate, and host career development events, workshops, and seminars throughout the academic year and play a key role in planning and facilitating the College to Career Expo.
- Assist the director, and associate director with the implementation of the First Destination Survey and analysis of the results.
- Work closely with the associate director of employer engagement to develop contacts and share hiring needs with students.
- Evaluate and update handouts, resources, and web-based resources.
- Stay current with career readiness trends and integrate NACE 's career readiness competencies into resources, presentations, and appointments.
- Actively participate in ongoing professional development and stay connected to regional and national professional organizations such as NACE.
- Develop and enhance career readiness resources and programming for diverse student populations.
- Guide students in defining short- and long-term career objectives, developing effective job search skills, and providing strategies to achieve their goals.
- Assist with the management of the Cougar Career Closet, while connecting students with this helpful resource.
STEM Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Advise STEM students on co-curricular activities and experiences that will help strengthen career preparation.
- Connect students with targeted internship opportunities in STEM.
- Work collaboratively with advisors and mentors to match work study opportunities in STEM with curricula, strengthening experiential connections between coursework and industry practice, and connecting students with potential employers during their academic career.
- Manage Udemy licenses for STEM classes and students.
- Manage the STEM Externship/Internship Fund by recruiting employers and students, assisting with internship placement, and providing ongoing support to participating employers and students.
- Collaborate with the STEM Transfer Admissions Advisor to strengthen the network of support for transfer majors in STEM, and assist in connecting these transfer students in internships.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in a STEM related field.
- 1-3 years of work-experience in recruitment, HR or a career-services office in a university setting.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills,
