Target hiring range for this position will be between be $67,978 to $97,189 per year . Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
Job Summary:
The Associate Director of Admissions and Financial Aid directs activities related to the recruitment, evaluation, and yield of candidates to the Law School's JD programs. The role requires significant travel and work on evenings and weekends during the peak recruitment and yield management seasons. The incumbent evaluates and provides application recommendations; conducts admissions presentations; serves as the primary communications officer and co-leads the student recruitment process. The Associate Director of Admissions and Financial Aid reports to the Director and works closely with the Assistant and Associate Deans on multiple admissions projects. The role also collaborates with admissions colleagues within operational matters as well as recruitment and yield management objectives.
Specific Responsibilities:
Administrative
- Conduct substantive file review for approximately 1,500 JD applications each cycle.
- Provide evaluation on application materials and provide recommendation on application decision.
- Serve as a member of the Admissions Committee.
- Assist with query and report running in alignment with file movement.
- Serve as the department's communications officer; author and edit admissions webpages and portals.
- Design branded, aesthetically compelling, and on-point promotional Slate (CRM) mailings and registration materials to showcase the Law School's offerings and to drive significant and targeted attendance at admissions programming.
- Exercising proficiency with the law school CRM database systems (Unite, Slate, ACES2)
- Collaborate with the Law School's Marketing and Communications team in the development and maintenance of admissions marketing materials.
Oversee the transfer admission cycle.
- Successfully enroll candidates, maintain transfer application, edit transfer related webpages.
- Evaluate all transfer application materials and provide a decision recommendation to the admissions committee within the expedited timeframe.
- Coordinate with Career Strategy Center leadership in relation to the Law School's on-campus interviewing program. Liaise with the faculty directors of the six student-edited journals so incoming transfers may participate in the Journal Write-On competition.
- Design and maintain a yield management campaign for admitted transfer students to ensure enrollment goals are met.
Recruitment
- Recruit prospective applicants at approximately 20 national forums, law fairs, and panels each year.
- Direct logistics for approximately 85 off-campus recruitment events each cycle.
- Conduct information sessions with admitted JD students
- Design, manage, and implement virtual programming during winter/spring with administrators, faculty, and student leaders to ensure engagement with constituencies from throughout the Law School community.
Oversee the Student-Led Tour Guide Program.
- Annually supervise and collaborate with a team of two, lead student guides. Assist with the recruitment of a team of 40+ student tour guides to provide regular in-person tours of the law school. Maintain the detailed tour/pathway of the three buildings comprising the Law School. Develop training sessions at the beginning of each semester.
- Help develop and implement a interactive virtual tour option.
Liaison with pre-law advisors and pre-law societies.
- Market and present information sessions to prospective and current applicants
- Perform other duties/special projects as needed within the department.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in admissions or a related field
Preferred Competencies:
- Possess initiative and ability to work independently
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proficiency with Microsoft office and strong skills working with databases and spreadsheet applications.
- Possess a high level of customer service orientation and attention to detail.
- Ability to multi-task, works under minimal supervision, and demonstrate excellent problem solving skills.
- Valid driver's license required for travel to recruitment events
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends as necessary
- Availability for extensive travel, sometimes a week or more at a time
Preferred Qualifications:
- JD Degree or Bachelor's degree and 3+years
- 2-4 years work experience in an administrative capacity, preferably in an academic environment.
- Familiarity with education based administrative processes and activities.
Preferred Competencies
- Possesses a working knowledge and support of CRM systems.
