Salary/Grade: EXS/5
Target hiring range for this position will be between $51,346-$52,000 per year. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
Job Summary
The Assistant Director of Operations/ Program Assistant for men's basketball assists with all administrative aspects of the men's basketball program. This role will be customer service orientated and act as a liaison between multiple internal and external stakeholders. Must be able to work cooperatively with the Department's administrative, coaching and support staff as well as various entities and constituents on and off campus.

Specific Responsibilities:
- Serves as a liaison between the various department contacts and the basketball office and assists with pre-game and game operations for home games.
- Assists with coordinating prospective student-athlete recruiting visits, which may include: arranging travel and accommodations, ensuring the appropriate NCAA, Big Ten and Northwestern University compliance paperwork are completed.
- Assists with preparing newsletters and correspondence to donors and prospective student-athletes.
- Maintains and updates various databases, contact lists, and files as needed;
- Assists with coordinating program functions, which may include: reserving event date and facility space, preparing guest lists and invitations and arranging catering, including meals, seating and linens.
- Assists in game day management for home basketball games, which may include: confirming Comp ticket requests for coaches and Player Guest admissions for players, handling any game day issues or requests from the visiting team(s), and handling any other issues that may arise.
- Assists in the day-to-day operations of the basketball office, which may include; answering the telephone, greeting guests and sorting mail.
- Assists with coordinating team and coaches' travel, which may include: arranging travel accommodations, ensuring the appropriate NCAA, Big Ten and Northwestern University compliance paperwork are completed.
- Responsible for adhering to all Department and University policies and procedures, as well as the rules, regulations, bylaws and interpretations of the Big Ten Conference and the NCAA.
- Responsible for adhering to all Department and University continuing education initiatives and required certifications and trainings.

Qualifications:
- Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree preferred; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.
- Intermediate knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, email and database software programs is required.
- Professional verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work in a dynamic fast paced environment.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks at once and meet deadlines.
- Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to remain focused and work independently.
- Previous experience in a Division I collegiate athletic environment preferred.
- Knowledge of rules and regulations of the NCAA, Big Ten Conference and Northwestern University preferred.
- Proficiency with Northwestern University's electronic procurement and NU Financials systems preferred.
- Ability to work cooperatively with others and effectively interact with diverse populations.
- Ability to establish engaging relationships within and across racialized and other marginalized communities
- Willingness and ability to work a non-traditional schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays is preferred and subject to applicable timekeeping procedures.
