This position is based out of Feeding America's Chicago office location in the heart of downtown Chicago. At Feeding America, we believe in offering a flexible work environment. Interns can be in the office an average of 2 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday) and work from home on other days

The internship program is designed to give you an opportunity to complement your formal education with career-related experience and is open to current undergraduates, individuals starting their graduate degree in the fall and current graduate students. The internship will provide a stimulating and substantive work experience, coupled with an experience to expand your knowledge and understanding of Feeding America.

The Opportunity
The intern will support the work of the Learning and Engagement Team. Our team plans and executes in person and virtual conferences, manages a learning management system which has learning resources and assets, and we have a learning design team which focuses on the learner in designing courses and training material.
We anticipate the intern's work will focus on three primary projects. If time and capacity allows, the intern will support general meeting management tasks.
  • Support Feeding America's new Sourcing, Operations and Neighbor Access Conference planning including the guidance and planned engagement for a new session format called Connect Groups.
  • Support Feeding America's Excellence in Finance and Human Resources Conference planning, coordination, and enhancements. Duties may include engaging in learner persona discussions, planning and leading focus groups, synthesizing data, and taking notes.
  • Lead the development and completion of the Affiliate Food Bank Playbook a comprehensive resource that will be designed to help Partner Food Banks (PFB) and Affiliate Food Banks (AFB) plan the implementation of the AFB Agreement and prepare for a Network Standards Review (NSR). The playbook will be created by working closely with the Member Engagement team to convert language from the PFB playbook to make it relevant to AFB's. This includes reviewing all AFB standards and questions that will be asked during an NSR visit and examples of ways to demonstrate the fulfillment of each standard.In addition to the AFB Playbook, an accompanying suite of resources will be compiled and housed in the Resource Librarywhich includes a curated list of tools, templates, guidance, external websites and examples that support AFB implementation.

  • 6/3/25 through 08/22/25 (11 weeks total - 40 hours per week)
Hourly Salary
  • $16 - Undergraduate
  • $17 - Between undergrad or graduate
  • $18 - Graduate
