Cashier/Financial Counselor

Mesilla Valley Hospital (UHS facility) is a free-standing psychiatric hospital in Las Cruces, New Mexico that provides mental health and drug & alcohol addiction services for adolescents, adults, and seniors. Mesilla Valley Hospital has been in operation since 1987, serving those in need of treatment for a variety of psychiatric and substance abuse issues. Mesilla Valley Hospital is a 120-bed facility, providing access to quality behavioral healthcare and substance abuse treatment to residents of New Mexico, West Texas and Arizona.

Mesilla Valley is seeking a FT Cashier/Financial Counselor.

The Cashier/Financial Counselor is responsible for posting all cash/payments received by the Business Office. As well as other date entry such as account adjustments and charge posting.

Must maintains an organized process to ensure that all monies received belong to the facility and that they are posted to the appropriate account. This position will also be responsible for assisting with Financial Counselor duties including but not limited to verification of benefits, patient financial assessments, assisting patients with Medicaid application process.

This position is responsible for posting all cash/payment received by the Business Office.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:

High School Diploma or equivalent. Two years of collections experience preferably within the Healthcare setting.

SKILLS:

Must have strong written and verbal skills and have the ability to deal with all levels of hospital management and the public. Knowledge of third-party payment procedures, credit and collections a plus.
