General Summary of Position Responsible for the effective management and oversight of the Environmental Services floor maintenance program. This includes but is not limited to training, assigning floorcare tasks and projects, managing floor tech performance, communicating with leaders when floor projects will be performed in their areas, and supervision of the floor techs. This position is also expected to perform all of the duties of a floor tech to include, but not limited to, using specialized, power equipment, floor maintenance of hard surface and carpet (stripping, waxing, buffing, shampooing, extraction & bonneting of areas that include offices, patient rooms, classrooms, corridors, lobbies, entrances, stairwells, and other public areas such as cafeterias. This positions answers to the Director of EVS or Senior Director of Support Services. Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Supervises the daily operations of the EVS floor care program ensuring floor techs are performing their tasks acceptably and addressing performance and quality concerns as they arise. Oversees the performance and job functions of the EVS Floor Techs including but not limited to, staff schedules, floor projects, performance management, communication with leaders about planned projects in their areas, etc. Supervises the floor tech training program. Performs ongoing training to ensure staffs knowledge and proficiency is maintained at a high level.Performs preventative maintenance checks on all equipment prior to use and tracks the inventory of floor equipment and any performed repairs. Conducts and monitors training and retraining of floor techs to ensure the floor techs are appropriate trained at all times. Performs all the tasks of a floor tech. Resolves issues as they arise.Provides ongoing feedback on performance reviews.Performs ongoing reports about the status of floorcare projects pending, completed, and equipment. Maintains a good work environment for the floor techs ensuring they work in a safe, healthy, and orderly environment.
Minimum Qualifications Education
- High School Diploma or GED High school diploma or GED is preferred, but a minimum of 1-3 years of relevant experience may be used in lieu of the degree requirement. preferred
- One year of relevant education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.
Experience
- Approximately two to three years of progressively more responsible job-related experience including at least 3 years' experience as a floor tech. required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of how to strip, wax and burnish floors with minimal to no assistance.
- Knowledge of operating various pieces of equipment necessary to effectively perform job functions, such as a high-speed buffer, extractor, wet vac, pressure washer, auto scrubber.
- Knowledge of and adherence to specific floor care processes, in addition to knowledge and the safe use of various chemical agents (MSDS Sheets) is required.
This position has a hiring range of $20.17 - $35.04
