POSITION PURPOSE: The Inventory Specialist will be responsible for overseeing various aspects of inventory management, including addressing COGI errors, IDOC errors, cycle count processes, physical inventory execution, reconciliation processes, and analysis of root causes and corrective actions. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
DUTIES, TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Planning System Maintenance
- Maintain planning system (SAP) integrity for planning, production and inventory transactions
- Proactively address and resolve COGI and IDOC errors to ensure accurate inventory records.
- Analyze recurring errors and implement corrective actions to prevent future discrepancies.
Cycle Count Process:
- Oversee the execution of cycle count processes to maintain inventory accuracy.
- Develop and implement strategies to optimize cycle counting procedures and minimize disruptions to operations.
Physical Inventory Execution:
- Coordinate and lead physical inventory counts to verify stock levels and reconcile any discrepancies.
- Ensure compliance with established inventory control policies and procedures during physical inventory activities.
Inventory Reconciliation Process:
- Manage day-to-day inventory reconciliation processes with sites, production, planning, and purchasing teams.
- Conduct thorough reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and obtain necessary approvals for adjustments.
- Perform root cause analysis to identify underlying issues affecting inventory accuracy.
Root Cause and Corrective Action Analysis:
- Analyze inventory discrepancies and implement corrective actions to address root causes.
- Collaborate with relevant teams to implement process improvements aimed at enhancing inventory accuracy.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Inventory Forecast Adherence:
- Measure and improve adherence to inventory forecasts in terms of volume and value.
- Identify opportunities to optimize inventory levels while meeting demand requirements.
- Reduction of Inventory Adjustments:
- Track and minimize the frequency and magnitude of inventory adjustments.
- Implement strategies to reduce the need for manual adjustments through process enhancements and error prevention.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate with sites, production, planning, and purchasing teams to ensure alignment on inventory management goals and objectives.
- Provide regular updates and reports on inventory performance during weekly and monthly KPI reviews.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business Administration, a related degree, or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience in inventory planning, control, and analysis, preferably in a manufacturing or distribution environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
- Proficiency in inventory management software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and precision in inventory-related tasks.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Travel up to 10% of time (physical inventory, site visits)
