Shift: Full-time; 1st shift weekdays

Provides evidence-based counseling and assessment to children, dependent adults and/or supportive caregivers of patients served at Allen Child Protection Center. Participates as a member of the Allen Child Protection Center multidisciplinary team including participation at case reviews, community committees and community trainings as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Provide evidence-based counseling and assessment according to guidelines of the National Children's Alliance Mental Health Standard.
  • Conduct evidence-based assessments and document findings.
  • Uses Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders-5 for proper diagnoses of patients.
  • Credentialed and bills insurance.
  • Complete accurate documentation of patient contact.
  • Work collaboratively with Department of Human Services, law enforcement, and prosecution personnel to achieve desired services and justice for patients.
  • Provide appropriate referrals for patients to community-based services based upon client/family needs.
  • Actively participate in Case Review meetings, Child Protection Center staff meetings, and other training/collaboration opportunities.
  • Participate in community meetings and committees as it relates to mental health services and Child Protection Center.
  • Provide community training as requested.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in(Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapist or other equivalent licensure-eligible Master's Degree for Mental Health Therapy)
  • Two to Five years' experience providing individual and family/couples' counseling/therapy.
  • Licensed in Iowa - Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
  • Zero to two years' experience working with children/dependent adults who have been victims of abuse.
  • Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.
  • Writes, reads, comprehends, and speaks fluent English.
  • Basic computer knowledge using word processing, spreadsheet, email and Epic.

Preferred:

  • Experience with child welfare/child abuse prevention.
  • Six or more years' experience providing individual and family/couples counseling/therapy.
  • Two or more years' experience working with children/dependent adults who have been victims of abuse.
  • Certified in evidence-based treatment practices such as Trauma Focused - Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), Alternatives for Families: A Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (AF-CBT), or others.
