The salary range for this position is $109,253 - $128,010. The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and/or step at appointment. Recruitment will remain open until position is filled Application Window Open date: January 3, 2025 Next review date: Monday, Feb 3, 2025 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Final date: Friday, May 30, 2025 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Position description ASSISTANT PROFESSOR POSITION IN GENOMICS, BIOETHICS AND BIOINFORMATICS POSITION DESCRIPTION The Institute for Clinical and Translational Science at the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine invites applications for a full-time faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in the Line (tenure track) series in an appropriate department in the School of Medicine. The position will be in the broad areas of human genomics and pangenomics. Special emphasis is placed on areas of research in reference genomics and the sharing of human genomic data. This includes (but is not limited to) translating genomics to new clinical applications, international research, tool implementation and benchmarking, development of new methods, sequence production from new or existing samples, graph genome construction, and the bioethics and regulatory aspects of these activities. Since this field is fraught with ethical, social, and legal challenges requiring a deep understanding of complex biological data issues ideal applicants must have either formal training or substantial experience in both genomics-relevant bioinformatics and bioethics. Applicants must have a PhD, MD/PhD or an MD degree. Clinically active applicants must also be board certified in the state of California. We especially encourage creative and collaborative scientists who will use innovative strategies and combine different elements of computational biology and data science with ethical, legal and social research methods to apply. Successful applicants will be expected to establish and maintain an extramurally-funded research program and participate in departmental teaching and mentoring missions for graduate and medical students.
