Position description

The Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at UC Irvine invites highly motivated applicants for a postdoctoral scholar position (Level 0 - 2) in the Ardona Research Group (https://faculty.sites.uci.edu/ardonaresearchgroup/). The scholar will be primarily working on a project that aims to address challenges in the maturation of stem cell-derived cardiomyocytes towards adult-like phenotypes. The project will involve the development of peptide-based interfaces that can induce tissue anisotropy and are engineered to stimulate cardiac tissues in a wireless and genetic modification-free manner. The position is suited for candidates interested in working with an interdisciplinary team. Experience working with stem cell-derived cardiomyocytes, or having some background in tissue engineering is preferable. Knowledge of protein/peptide conjugation techniques or materials-oriented organic synthesis is beneficial but not required. Candidates should have a doctorate in biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, chemistry, materials science, or other relevant fields.

Initial appointment will be for a 24-month period, renewable subject to performance and funding availability.

Applicants should submit a cover letter describing their research goals and interests, curriculum vitae, and contact information for at least three references. Apply by submitting your application to our online RECRUIT system at https://recruit.ap.uci.edu/JPF09436.
