DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will work closely with and take direction from the unit supervisor regarding work assignments to assist families in attaining goals in their Family Service Plan. This includes contacting clients through phone calls and in-person visits with the children and families within their homes, gathering information from clients, and meeting with the supervisor and caseworker together at least once a month to discuss safety issues family progress. Work will rely on your working knowledge of the physical, cultural, developmental, and social factors impacting child abuse and neglect as well as your ability to identify safety issues and assist the caseworkers within the unit to provide appropriate community resource referrals. You will also assist the families we work with by providing information and instruction to parents regarding parenting skills and techniques, especially for families experiencing difficulties in supervision, and assisting with the completion of paperwork needed to access community resources. This includes monitoring and supervising visitation between parents and children at the office, at the parent's home, or where the caseworker has arranged for visits to take place. You will also document all contacts with clients, keep case notes, and make entries into our computer record keeping system. - Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to one day per week based on business needs In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Wilkes-Barre.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year as a County Social Services Aide 2; or
- Graduation from high school, or its equivalency, and three years of experience in public contact work in a human services agency which included one year of experience in interviewing and obtaining information; or
- An associate's degree in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences, and one year of experience in a human services agency; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
Other Requirements:
- This particular position also requires you to possess a valid driver's license which is not under suspension.

- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
