THE POSITION

Consider joining the Department of Agriculture as a Livestock Worker at Parx Racetrack. While experience is beneficial, it is not a requisite for this position as training and safety protocols are completed upon hiring. Your role includes helping veterinarians manage horses, documenting information, and gathering samples to make sure the Pennsylvania State Horse Racing Commission's rules and policies are being followed. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Livestock Worker 1, your responsibilities will include overseeing assigned horses, gathering urine samples, properly packaging them in accordance with established protocols, and maintaining necessary records and documentation. Additionally, you will support other essential farm activities. Your background in livestock management and dedication to animal welfare will be vital for excelling in this position.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Permanent Part-time employment
  • Typical work schedule is Monday - Wednesday: 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
  • The work schedule is vendor controlled and may change as determined by the racing schedule.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Experience in general farm work; and such training as may have been gained through completion of the eighth school grade; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Post Employment Requirement:

  • This position will require possession of a Commission Employee License once hired.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
