Global Marketing Director, Hip Solutions

Reporting to the VP of Marketing, this role has global marketing responsibility for developing and completing our overall hip solution value proposition, aligned to the hip business strategy and incorporating both implant & enabling technology value propositions. The Global Marketing Director is responsible for developing and ensuring execution of all aspects of a competitive hip solution value proposition, that would allow us to address the needs of todays and tomorrows customers - including patient, surgeon and procurement needs. As part of this role, the marketing director will also identify evidence & educational needs and work together with our evidence, med ed and sales training teams to develop the appropriate clinical & health economic evidence, medical education and sales training programme that supports our hip solution value proposition including any policy changes/market shaping activities. This role will also involve close collaboration with our enabling technology teams to ensure aligned strategies and value proposition for the hip business. In addition to the above this role will be responsible for delivering on the Global Hip Innovation Council, working together with the VP of marketing and global KOLs to develop and complete the hip business strategy. The Global Marketing Director role will be responsible for working with the regions to raise awareness on our hip solution value proposition through marketing communications, tradeshow promotions, multi-channel campaigns with an emphasis on digital marketing. In addition, this role will be responsible for delivering on the portfolio mix shifts and product exit strategies. The Global marketing director will be the marketing leader developing hip solution programs to support the worldwide S&N commercial organization, including the development of programs to drive sales force readiness as well as market/customer readiness and achieve revenue targets for the overall hip business. The Global marketing director will also be responsible for crafting and encouraging a team culture, one that supports and promotes collaboration with the other cross functional teams to ensure an aligned commercial approach.

What will you be doing?

Develop & lead the overall hip solution value proposition, aligned to the overall hip business strategy, including but not limited to:

  • Build the hip solution value proposition together with a cross functional team and regions.
  • Actively participate in building the hip business strategy and ensure alignment of the hip value proposition to the overall business strategy.
  • Validate hip solution value proposition through VOC activities and alignment with regional KOLs
  • Lead the creation of marketing literature for the full hip solution: Including customer facing materials, sales training materials, med ed modules, etc.
  • Liaise with medical education on customer education plans for full hip continuum of care
  • Assist sales training with sales force education package including any train the trainer activities with local sales teams or regional/country marketing teams.
  • Partner with clinical team for evidence & research needs to build evidence supporting the full hip solution Value proposition, including any policy/market shaping activities.
  • Responsible for developing and running budget expenses for their area of global marketing in accordance with approved marketing budgets.

Build & execute on annual Innovation Council engagement plans:

  • Lead the IC surgeon consultants, build & execute on the annual engagement plans.
  • Work actively with regions to identify next generation IC candidates & support the regional hip advisory boards.
  • Work with a cross functional team to ensure all aspects of the hip business portfolio are considered & reviewed at the innovation council
  • Work with the regions to ensure all regional ad board inputs are fed into the Innovation council - become the lead coordinator between the regional ad boards and global Innovation council.

Drive portfolio mix shift to align with overall hip strategy, including plans for brand exits

  • Develop proposals for portfolio mix shift including product exit strategies & phase out plans together with supply & manufacturing teams to ensure LCM activities are aligned across business - ensure proposal is aligned to business strategy
  • Work with the regions to execute on phase in, phase out plans & play lead role in monitoring portfolio mix shift to plan
  • Partner with the supply team on forecasting to ensure smooth transition to new brands.

Be the digital marketing authority within the marketing team:

  • Bring digital marketing expertise within the marketing team, and lead shift towards digital first approach
  • Develop annual marketing plans that include significant focus on digital marketing including multi-channel campaigns, influencer marketing, SEO strategy, etc. Work with key KOLs, med ed and marketing comms team to align messaging across business areas.
  • Set up best practice sharing sessions to strengthen digital marketing capabilities across the global marketing organization.
  • Ongoing insights and interactions with markets and customers.
  • Be the expert in the hip orthopedic field, through market research, clinical papers, conference attendance, KOL discussions

What will you need to be successful?

  • Education: B.S. degree required. MBA preferred.
  • 12+ years of marketing experience with experience specific to medical device marketing.
  • Prior orthopedic and marketing experience preferred.
  • Prior experience in building solution based digital marketing strategies and leading execution of the same.
  • Prior experience in building solution based value propositions and leading any associated market shaping activities to move towards value based purchasing.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute a business/franchise strategy.
  • Experience with running key opinion leader forums, requiring excellent facilitation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written & verbal.
  • Ability to influence at all levels in an organization; excellent collaboration and negotiation skills. Innovative approach with self-motivation and resiliency.
