Overview

The Manager of Corporate Philanthropic Giving will work to cultivate, secure, and steward major gifts ($25,000 and above) from corporations, businesses and their executives, as well as other individuals and families, in support of the mission of Children's Mercy Hospital.

If you are selected for this position, you will be asked to supply your immunization records as proof of vaccination. If you and have any concerns about receiving these vaccines, medical and/or religious exemptions can be further discussed with Human Resources.



Responsibilities

Solicitation and stewardship of major and planned gifts:

    By soliciting gifts of $25,000 or more and developing relationships and managing and soliciting a portfolio of approximately 100 major gift donors utilizing the following functions
    • Demonstrate and maintain a high level of knowledge of major gift vehicles and institutional giving opportunities and priorities to encourage businesses to incorporate major gift philanthropy into their existing and emerging business models, now and in the future;
    • Identify new major gift prospects from all available sources, both internally and externally;
    • Cultivate donors from discovery to solicitation by representing the organization, its mission and needs;
    • Maintain the appropriate skills to successfully close gifts, current and future.
    • Thank and steward donors promptly and appropriately, engaging them with the hospital;
    • Having a presence at appropriate hospital and department events;
    • Meeting assigned accountability metrics.

Stewardship of donors:

  • Ensure appropriate and timely acknowledgment and recognition of gifts with the purpose of helping donors understand the impact and to inspire continued giving;
  • Maintain contact through a variety of means including direct communications; volunteer opportunities, invitations to meetings, hospital tours and special events, and contact with key leaders of the institution.

Prospect Tracking:

  • By ensuring appropriate, timely and adequate reporting of actions and information in the Raisers Edge donor management systems.

Professional Development:

  • By maintaining membership in local, regional and/or national philanthropic associations;
  • Attending meetings and conferences hosted by these associations;
  • Attending other professional development programs appropriate to major gift fundraising and specific assigned responsibilities.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree and 3-5 years' experience. Philanthropic fundraising experience in the not-for-profit sector highly preferred. Major account relationship work would be comparable.
  • CFRE Preferred

Starting Pay

Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $31.02/hr, but your salaried offer will be determined based upon your education and experience.



Remote Work/Work from Home

This position is entirely remote or work-from-home. The person hired must live in the Kansas City metro area and may attend on-site meetings, as scheduled.
