Southwire Job Description

This position has the primary responsibility of creating long-term strategic relationships with an appropriate supply base to support meeting the financial objectives of the overall business. The incumbent is responsible for leading cost control and cost reduction activities associated with the acquisition of finished goods, machinery & equipment, spare parts & services to support the Southwire SCR Operations. Those responsibilities include, but are not limited to, supplier selection, contract negotiation, bid analysis, issuing purchase orders, reporting analysis, & system training. This position will also be heavily focused on process improvements, lean strategies and maintaining a positive working relationship with the supplier network and internal customers including cohorts from all levels of the organization.

While this role has no direct reports, this person will be working with peers to influence, motivate and drive continuous improvement activities related to the purchasing function for the department. They should know what good looks like and have experience implementing best practices and come with a desire to learn and a bias for action.

  • Responsible for all purchases related to projects and spare parts in SCR.
  • Be process and data driven with actions and improvements.
  • Lead the effort in problem solving analysis to address inefficiencies in the procure to pay process.
  • Responsible for leading supplier negotiations, continuously seeking cost savings opportunities through competitive bidding, establishing supplier agreements and scorecards, supporting strategic working capital objectives related to standardization of pay terms.
  • Continuously look for ways to improve both internal and external customer business processes while striving for best-in-class customer satisfaction.
  • Have a lean mindset when it comes to process documentation, communication strategies and customer satisfaction.
  • Champion the continuous improvement mindset and actions related to the purchasing function.
  • Coordinate with sales, engineers and project managers as needed.

Required Education, Experience, and Skills
Minimum Education Level: Bachelor's

Years of Experience: 10+
Preferred Skills, Licenses, & Certificates: 5-10 years of experience in procurement, sourcing, warehouse management, supply chain management. Advanced knowledge of SAP in the manufacturing industry. Advanced knowledge of Excel & SharePoint. Experience leading and training a team. Strong financial acumen and attention to detail.

Travel:Domestic % of Time: Up to 25%
