The Tactical Space Systems Group (Group 96) develops technologies and prototypes to enhance the performance and resilience of U.S. space systems and to provide flexible new space capabilities to the U.S. Government. The Group executes both large-scale system prototypes including satellite payloads and ground systems, as well as earlier stage technology development and demonstration programs with partner groups across the laboratory. The group is predominantly composed of scientists and engineers with expertise in aerospace engineering, systems engineering, electronics and software/firmware.


Job Description

The Graphic Artist will be responsible for the design, layout, and production of presentations, technical illustrations, and posters in both electronic and printed media formats. The artist will create these presentations leveraging the technical results and rough sketches generated by the technical sta. Common tasks include the artistic rendering of technical concepts and the formatting/merging of technical data into presentations using Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft PowerPoint. The artist will be required to communicate eectively with technical sta, and to adapt to dierent security and design standards in dierent environments. Additional responsibilities include designing marketing materials for conferences, developing enhancements to the graphics team workow, and archiving graphic materials (e.g. presentations, clip art).

Requirements

  • BA/BFA in Communication Design, Graphic Design, Illustration or related eld desired
  • Minimum of 5 years of graphics design experience working in a high-pressure environment
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Indesign, and Adobe Photoshop required
  • Web design and video editing experience is desirable but not required
  • Able to work independently under time-critical deadlines handling multiple simultaneous tasks
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Top Secret security clearance
  • Prior experience opera ng in a U.S. government contractor environment is desirable
