This position will work a hybrid schedule which includes a combination of working both onsite on Campus (3 days) and remote (2 days).

DESCRIPTION

The Department of Surgery is one of the largest departments in the School of Medicine and is comprised of 102 full-time faculty members, 220 voluntary faculty members, 20 physicians employed on MSP agreements, 25 doctors employed by the VA or other facilities, 77 accredited and 13 non-accredited trainees and 100 career staff. Activities are organized in 13 sub-specialty divisions. Annual expenditures across the Department total over $66.5M with a global research portfolio of over $19M. The missions of research, education, and patient care are intertwined and are integral to the goals of the department.

This position involves designing, conducting, promoting, evaluating, and supporting health professions education programs in compliance with organizational objectives and nationally accepted accreditation standards and requirements including full scope of Acute Care Surgery/Burn Fellowship program management. Supports learners (including but not limited to faculty, residents, clinical fellows, graduate or undergraduate learners, practicing or licensed professionals) in areas such as curriculum, teaching and learning activities, scheduling, core competencies, assessment, and evaluations. Coordinates all activities associated with ongoing administration of health professions education programs. This position will be responsible for the full scope of courses offered through the Division including but not limited to: ASSET, ATLS, ATOM, BEST, IDC, Observer rotations, and all other courses and programs the Division of Trauma, Burn, SICU, and EGS develop. Responsible for all other duties as assigned.

Applies knowledge about curriculum, requirements, and educational activities to coordinate professional health education programs. Coordinates and maintains program operations, which may include teaching and learning activities, program curriculum, learner scheduling, maintaining databases, tracking learner compliance, and program accreditation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Seven (7) years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor's degree in related area plus three (3) years of related experience/training.

  • Thorough knowledge of relevant policies and regulatory requirements. Solid knowledge of health professions education program requirements. Thorough knowledge of health professions education industry. Demonstrated knowledge and experience managing Surgery's ACGME and non-ACGME fellowships in the areas of Trauma, Burn, SICU, and EGS.

  • Thorough knowledge of administrative analysis and operations research. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement processes and systems. Thorough knowledge of the administrative and operational implications in a program.

  • Excellent organizational skills, analytical, and demonstrated attention to detail. Ability to complete work and meet established deadlines in an accurate and timely manner, and to manage short and competing deadlines.

  • Demonstrated experience and documented excellence in oral and written communications skills; includes active listening and critical thinking.

  • Strong interpersonal skills. Actively cooperates and supports the work of others. Ability to work productively with anyone regardless of background. Empathetic and aware of impact on others. Strong problem-solving skills to assist learners and resolve issues.

  • Thorough knowledge of educational software and platforms. Demonstrated ability to analyze and seek solutions to enhance the user experience.

  • Thorough knowledge of data management, documentation methods used in investigating and presenting findings about the program. Skills include statistical analysis of data across databases and systems.

  • Demonstrated interest in supporting the success of graduate students, course participants, observers, and UCSD's overall missions.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $69,500 - $123,500 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $33.29 - $59.15

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
