Program Coordinator - Student Affairs, Housing and Residence Life

Specific living and learning programs include language immersion houses, three residential colleges, a comprehensive first-year experience, and a newly created second year and transfer student experience. Residential environments encompass a diverse array of building styles including traditional residence halls, apartment complexes, townhouses, and single-family homes.

Program Coordinator duties and responsibilities:

In collaboration with the assistant dean, the PC will work towards developing and growing our academic engagement program and wider residential programming model, both of which enhance the residential experience as outlined in the University's 2030 plan.

• Alongside the assistant dean, collaborate with faculty and other partners (UVA Careers, Pathways, library) to create educational programs for our residents
• Work alongside our Residence Life Coordinator's and resident staff, to plan and implement meaningful programming within our associations and across Grounds, to promote and cultivate a positive community atmosphere
• Contribute to establishing educational strategies using a residential framework that focuses on student learning and connecting residents to each other in meaningful ways
• Work with the assistant dean to assess needs, develop outcomes, implement learning opportunities, and evaluate program initiatives for successful learning and student engagement
• Monitor and record our academic engagement program attendance database
• Work with our student leadership team to help coordinate our Last lecture Series and Professors' Picks programs
• Support the marketing for the academic engagement program, which includes overseeing and enhancing our social media page(s), digital signage, newsletters, and promotional materials
• Student support responsibilities include mentoring, training, and/or supervising student staff and student leaders as well as helping students solve problems and respond appropriately to challenges and/or crises
• Create and maintain positive professional relationships within the department and across the university
• Participate in an on-call rotation.

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor's degree and two years of relevant experience
• Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively and interact effectively with students, faculty, staff, and team members
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• An understanding of diversity, equity and inclusion is required, as well as demonstrated leadership and effectiveness in promoting respect and appreciation for diversity and pluralism among students and staff.

Preferred:

• Master's degree or equivalent in Counseling, Higher Education, Student Affairs Administration, or other related field
• Two years of relevant experience in residence life
• Marketing experience with an emphasis on managing social media accounts to increase following and brand awareness
• Experience managing a budget or reconciling financial accounts
• Experience with program assessment and data-driven decision making
• Experience being on-call within a housing & residence life setting.

About the Position

This is an in-person, live-off position, located in Charlottesville, Virginia. The Housing & Residence Life office business hours are Mon-Fri: 8am-5pm. To support program needs, evening and weekend work may be required on occasions. Temporary housing may be available to the successful candidate to help navigate a potential relocation to the area.

Salary range: $45,000- $55,000 This is an exempt-level position with UVa benefits. Employees' benefits package highlights include:

Selected applicants will pass a background check. This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings and programs. The anticipated start date for this position is July 2025.
