Job Description

The Account Representative I - Posting is responsible for various tasks in the accounts receivable reconciliation process that may include; but not be limited to, accurate and timely cash posting for insurance and patient payments, and thru manual posting and electronic posting of payments and contractual adjustments. This position reconciles patient accounts as cash is posted to ensure appropriate balances are directed to secondary payers and patients as appropriate.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares, balances and reports all monetary cash receipts from lockbox, electronic funds transfers and cash payments received from all payer sources and service locations.
  • Post and reconcile all assigned cash batches.
  • Complete batch posting prior to the end of the day and refrains from leaving electronic cash posting batches open at the end of the business day.
  • Calculate and post necessary contractual adjustments on accounts based on the remittance advice.
  • Reconciles and reports cash receipts posted and received from Access areas.
  • Applies due diligence to unapplied cash accounts to ensure payments are applied to appropriate patient accounts or returned to the payer source.
  • Balance and prepare all unposted credit card receipts for processing and post to the appropriate patient accounts.
  • Post/apply appropriate denial codes/transactions to patient accounts based on information reflected on the remittance advice.


Qualifications

Minimum Education

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Required

Minimum Work Experience

  • 6 months Customer service and/or business office experience Required
