We are currently seeking an individual to join our team as Controller. The right candidate will be ready to hit the ground running and immediately assume responsibility for our Finance and Accounting function. This position has high visibility and direct relationships with the partners of the firm and will be the liaison with our external accounting firm.
Duties/Responsibilities:


  • Establishes internal controls and guidelines for accounting transactions and budget preparation.
  • Prepares business activity reports, financial forecasts, and annual budgets.
  • Processes accounts receivable and accounts payable.
  • Prepares periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or financial reporting standards.
  • Responsible for tax reporting and coordination with external Accountants for year-end close and filing.
  • Audits accounts to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations; coordinates with outside auditors and provides needed information for the annual external audit.
  • Presents recommendations to partners on short- and long-term financial objectives and policies.
  • Prepares bi-weekly payroll, maintains employee records, and coordinates year-end reporting with vendors.
  • Ensures compliance with local, state and federal government requirements
  • Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.


Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient in accounting and tax preparation software.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, and QuickBooks. Unanet experience helpful.


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration required.
  • Five years or more of related experience, preferably in construction or engineering industry
