Job Description

[Mid-Grade / Senior] Strategic Assessments Analyst to provide assessments support to the USSPACECOM J5 Assessments Division.This position requires an individual possessing a wide range of skills and demonstrated experience.The individual will assist with the assessment of various strategies, plans, operations, exercises, and capability gaps. Duties will involve data collection, organization, analysis, interpretation, and reporting, using various analytical methods, including statistical analysis. The individual will perform combatant command-level staff functions and advise mid- and senior-level military officers on assessment methodology and translating relevant data into decision-quality information.

Job Requirements

Candidates should have demonstrated experience in assessing military plans, operations, and/or exercises; developing useful assessment metrics; and performing operational and/or strategic risk assessments. A successful candidate will have demonstrated experience working on a high-level staff supporting senior-level military personnel and have the ability to translate relevant data into decision-quality information.

Required Qualifications



  • Active DoD TS/SCI security clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 6 year's assessments experience.Additional years of experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 10 years military experience (active duty or government civilian) and experience working on classified networks.


  • Demonstrated proficiency in assessing military plans, operations, and exercises.


  • Demonstrated ability to manage an assessments process.


  • Demonstrated experience working on a high-level military staff.


  • Excellent oral and written communication abilities and critical thinking skills.
  • Demonstrated experience providing briefings, presentations, and reports to senior level military personnel.


  • Demonstrated experience in managing assessments processes, to include data collection, organization, analysis, interpretation, and reporting.


  • Demonstrated understanding of various Joint Force assessments such as the Annual Joint Assessment, Chairman's Risk Assessment, and the Joint Force Readiness Review.
  • Demonstrated understanding of campaign plan assessments and operational assessments.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop relevant assessment indicators such as measures of performance and measures of effectiveness.
  • Demonstrated understanding of qualitative, quantitative, subjective, and objective assessments of progress towards achievement of campaign plan objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to turn relevant data into operationally relevant, decision-quality information.
  • Ability to identify trends in the operational environment that affect USSPACECOM campaign plan execution.
  • Ability to perform studies and assessments of issues arising in various difficult and complex areas related to space and national security.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Previous assessment experience at operational/theater level (e.g., Combatant Command, Joint/Combined Task Force, Component).
  • Operations Research Systems Analyst (ORSA) qualification.


  • Experience leading military assessment efforts.
  • Masters of Science Degree with documented coursework in operations research, industrial/systems engineering, systems analysis, or related field.
  • Training / experience in statistical analysis.


  • Graduate of Joint Professional Military Education Level 2 (JPME II).


  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite, to include PowerBI.
  • Proficiency in database management.
  • Knowledge of quantitative techniques and methods used to develop, adapt, modify, and resolve problems or define and clarify alternative solutions.

Salary Range: $100,000-$130,000
