PURPOSE

  • Ownership and focal point for all yard strategy, process, and activities.

  • Manages CY strategy process to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency.

  • Strategies and research approach for the yard planning development & review

  • regularly the yard processes, to ensure optimalisation.

  • Daily monitoring of the yard activities to ensure it is in line with the CY strategy and ensure corrective actions to be taken when and wherever required.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Maintain a yard strategy which supports environment for a high quay commander productivity, and to minimize truck turn-time.

  • Ensure ability to quickly adapt with container yard strategies for any Demand (weather, High Capacity, etc.)

  • Liaise with managers and terminal stakeholders to manage any kind of exceptions derived from daily container yard plan.

  • Monitor and optimize the terminal operating system in order to ensure that container yard is optimum and meets the strategy requirements

  • Ensure container yard strategy allows for optimal equipment deployment with the maximum utilization.

  • Ensure all Forecast, information platform and Reporting metrics are updated proper utilization of it.

  • Maintain a continuous improvement mindset by actively seeking ways to reduce wastes in operations through a better vessel, yard, and rail strategy.

  • Reduce redundant yard moves to a minimum.

  • Check and support an accurate and efficient information flow on the terminal related to all yard activities.

  • Demonstrates cost consciousness for use of resources. Strives to improve cost result per goal.

  • Reports to the Strategy Manager on the status of production, yard density, equipment utilization and container yard strategy/allocation changes.

  • Coordinate on daily basis with berth strategist about the different changes in ganging affecting the yard strategy.

CRITICAL QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in business, logistics, or a related field.

  • Must have 2+ years of operations and/or logistics experience.

  • Previous experience in terminal operations management is preferable.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency in data analytics tools/software is desirable.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage and develop teams.
