Overview

The Electronics Test Engineer provides technical contributions and subject matter leadership throughout the entire product development lifecycle to ultimately ensure successful product verification. This role is responsible for completing all assigned, assumed, and cascading tasks within allotted timelines. The Test Engineer works collaboratively with Design Engineers, Systems Engineers, Project Engineers, Process Engineers, and production staff to ensure all contractual elements of a given program are satisfied and to help ensure all project requirements are maintained to support product qualification.

An ideal candidate applies multi-discipline technical knowledge to leverage their formal education, training, creativity, supporting skill sets, and prior work experience to develop, document, and execute product verification testing and product qualification. Product lines supported will include Transponders, Encoders, Flight Terminators, Interrogators, Altimeters, and other related embedded flight safety, electronic sub-systems. This position is expected to operate independently with nominal management oversight as an individual contributor, as a test specialist, a project team member, and as a collaborative member of the engineering staff. Technical writing will be central to the role but will also require high aptitude mechanical and electrical understanding and hands on product interaction. The role will also include developing test fixtures, developing test plans, testing products, performing root cause analysis, and assisting design engineers with developing corrective action and continuous improvement plans.


Responsibilities

  • Drive the creation of project documentation such as of test protocols, acceptance test procedures, qualification test procedures, verification cross reference, verification plans, rationale artifacts, technical reports, corrective action reports, failure analysis reports, and other deliverables.
  • Drive the development and fabrication of test fixtures and other testing related items.
  • Assess and confirms customer specifications, specifically related to the requirements to which a product has been or will need to be tested.
  • Support the on-site environmental test programs, facilities, and equipment as the engineering subject matter expert, including but not limited to shock, vibration, thermal, pressure, etc.
  • Verify traceable hardware requirements, software requirements, use cases, and acceptance test procedures.
  • Perform root cause analysis and assist design engineers with developing corrective action and continuous improvement plans.
  • Support risk reduction planning, communicate decision rationale, and secure project artifacts using designated enterprise database tools and storage systems.
  • Directly participate in the development of functional prototypes, limited run production, and the qualification of production units.
  • Perform related or other supporting engineering work assignments as business needs require.
  • Travel occasionally to off-site locations as needed (0-20%).

Qualifications

Minimum

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant engineering discipline and 5+ years' experience
  • Demonstratable self-directed functional task management and strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work under deadlines and constraints while multitasking across different programs
  • Experience operating within stage-gate, structured product development environments
  • Working knowledge of electronics systems and electronics manufacturing
  • Demonstratable analytical root cause analysis capabilities and advanced problem-solving ability
  • Experience working in a hands-on lab and/or product testing environment
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, etc.)
  • Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills in English
  • This position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by US export laws. In order to be eligible for this position, you must be a "US Person" under US export laws (or eligible for approval under a U.S. Government export license)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance

Preferred

  • Working knowledge of test equipment and techniques used to interrogate electronic assemblies including Power Meters, Signal Generators, Spectrum and Vector Analyzers
  • Working knowledge of environmental test equipment including Shakers, Thermal Chambers, Pressure Vessels
  • Working knowledge of CAD applications (AutoCAD Inventor)
  • Working knowledge of 3D printing / additive manufacturing tools and processes
  • Working knowledge of RF (Scattering, Amplifiers, Filters, Antennas, etc.)

Salary Range min/max: Test Engineer III: 85,481.43 - $128,222.15 Test Engineer IV: $113,049.19 - $169,573.79 Applicable pay within the posted range may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, geographical location, job function of the position, education, and experience of the successful candidate.
