Your Role

The role of the Vice President, Office of the Chief Executive Officer is a multi-faceted role, designed to support and advance the strategic vision of the Chief Executive Officer.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the role is part of the company's senior leadership team and interfaces with leadership across the Blue Shield of California organization, the board of directors and external constituents. This role contributes to Blue Shield of California's overall strategy and goals by providing consistent, coordinated leadership to the CEO by operating in partnership with senior leadership.

This role is responsible for providing strategic leadership, overseeing daily CEO Operations, managing key initiatives, stakeholder management, cross-functional coordination, organizational alignment with CEO goals and executive support and advisory. This role requires a thoughtful leader who is deeply committed to the CEO's success and the achievement of company goals.

Your Knowledge and Experience

  • Minimum of 12 years of relevant experience, including 6 years of management experience required.
  • Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred. Lean Sigma, Six Sigma or experience with process improvement methodology preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage work and trade-offs against critical project timelines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strategic thinker with end to end view who has an eye for detail, is organized, and can manage multiple programs simultaneously.
  • Excellent influence and engagement skills in building alignment and accountability without formal ownership or authority over talent resources.
  • Results oriented, with a focus on execution and problem solving.
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills with proven ability to influence internal/ external constituents.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to build excellent relationships with business executive partners across the enterprise and the healthcare industry.
  • Strong solution mindset with a proven bias towards action and enterprise thinking.
  • Proven track record of delivering results that add value to the organization.
  • Ability to build strong and sustainable relationships and the capability to interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong business acumen to handle complex situations and multiple responsibilities simultaneously with the urgency of immediate demands on the operations.
  • Significant team leadership and proven ability to manage projects to successful conclusions, while keeping multiple initiatives.
  • Ability to deal with highly confidential information and act as a liaison between the business leader and other constituents, both internal and external.
  • Leadership and managerial proficiencies, with the ability to influence both direct and matrixed reporting relationships.
  • Good problem solver with the ability to understand business drivers and needs and be able to balance desired outcomes against potential risks and challenges.
  • Carry out duties with the highest degree of integrity - with all the appropriate records being maintained, reports being provided, and all required and necessary deadlines being met

The pay range for this role is: $290,000.00 to $330,000.00 for California.

Please note that this range represents the pay range for this and many other positions at Blue Shield that fall into this pay grade. Blue Shield salaries are based on a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, location (California, Bay area, or outside California), and current employee salaries for similar roles.
