Summary:

The Quality Manager will lead, direct, and oversee the planning, implementation, and optimization of the quality organization at the site to achieve the quality strategies and objectives of FMI Aerostructures. This role involves ensuring that current quality system policies and procedures comply with company and customer quality requirements. Additionally, the Quality Manager will establish and implement new requirements as necessary.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

The Quality Manager manages and supports the day-to-day operations of the Quality team, consisting of QA, QC, Engineers and Inspectors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

* Responsible for organizing, scheduling, and coordinating quality operations to meet quality, on-time delivery, and budget requirements.

* Collaborates with operations in order to:

- Meet customer requirements in the execution of the PO and all Technical requirements

- Meet customer delivery dates by standardizing inspection operations within takt time (hours available/customer need)

* Oversees quality improvement processes to ensure on-going reductions in Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) and escapes.

* Manages teams collecting and analyzing quality information from multiple sources to develop long-term quality strategy and programs.

* Manages teams providing production process analyses, ensuring quality standards are met and making recommendations for quality improvement.

* Champion operations site AQPD/ZDP initiatives.

* Develop and lead Special Action Teams as necessary to address immediate issues affecting the Quality Management System

* Develop, implement and monitor enterprise-wide Customer Scorecard reporting.

* Manage and support Quality System Engineers in support of ISO9001 and AS9100 activities including management reviews, audits, corrective action resolution, and training.

* Responsible for supporting internal and external audits related to quality and customer requirements

* Prepares and presents departmental metrics at site monthly reviews

* Manages product compliance and customer satisfaction improvement initiatives.

* Provide engineering support to engineering and production personnel by ensuring the consistent application of quality techniques

* Leads implementation of organization projects and processes to ensure overall quality is

continuously improving.

Requirements:

Educational Qualification:

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, Manufacturing)
  • Preferred: Master's Degree (Aerospace, Mechanical, Manufacturing)
  • Certified Quality Manager (CQM), Certified Quality Engineering (CQE) or Certified Quality Auditor is preferred

Required Skills / Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in a Quality Management/Engineering role in an Aerospace Manufacturing Environment
  • Substantial experience handling Dept. of Defense and Aerospace programs
  • Required: Compliant with the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. Person status (ITAR defines U.S. Person as a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident.)
  • 3+ years of experience working with ISO 9000, AS9100, commercial and military aerospace quality and engineering specifications, AS9002:1994 and ASQR-01.
  • 3+ years of experience of deploying QMS across an organization.
  • 3+ years of experience in the use of risk-based methods and techniques for audit planning
  • Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA), 8D
  • Ability to read technical blueprints, technical manuals, and component maintenance manuals.
  • Maintain the highest ethical standards.
  • Understand and live by ethics and business conduct policies
