FMI Aerostructures is seeking a Mechanical Inspector and Metrology! As a Mechanical Inspector & Metrology, you will be responsible for the inspection and measurement of mechanical components and assemblies to ensure that they meet quality and accuracy standards. You will be expected to use metrology and inspection tools to verify the accuracy of dimensions, as well as to detect any flaws or discrepancies in the components. You must also be able to effectively communicate the results of your inspections to the relevant personnel. Summary:
Perform and or evaluate tests confirming quality requirements, Mechanical finishes, and components by conducting thorough inspections for all Mechanical works as per approved shop drawings, specifications, and plans.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The quality inspector shall perform visual and dimensional inspections on manufactured parts, assemblies, and / or sub-assemblies. Parts will be inspected to engineering drawings, customer purchase order(s), industry standards, and specifications. The inspector will be required to report inspection accept/reject information.

Requirements:
  • Candidate must have practical experience performing in-process and final inspections on complex machined parts, assemblies, and/or sub-assemblies.
  • The inspections will be performed according to engineering requirements specified per ANSI Y14.5 - Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T) or equivalent standards.
  • Must have the ability to read/interpret engineering drawings and Purchase Orders (POs).
  • The candidate must have experience using various mechanical inspection tools, such as micrometers and calipers.
  • Experience performing First Article Inspections (FAIs) in accordance with the AS9102 standard and knowledge is required.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
