Job Overview

The Senior, Workforce Systems main focus is to improve operational functions in these systems: Centralized scheduling, Availability, Timekeeping, Reliability, Macy's Time Off, Self-Service, Store Hours, and Predictability platforms. It will also focuses on building technical tools using SQL, Access, Excel, statistical programming languages (e.g., R, Python) and visualization tools like PowerBI or Tableau to support business strategies that impact the company's workforce.

They provide leadership and engage with internal and external business partners. The role requires understanding multiple platforms, developing systemic solutions, and managing several high-priority objectives simultaneously.

Additional responsibilities includes the day to day activities of validating Scheduling, Timekeeping, Attendance, and Reliability regulations and processes, ensuring smooth operations and preparing for schedule release and timecard processing. This involves providing accurate weekly reports, analyzing large datasets using systemic tools, and offering recommendations on initiatives. The position will diagnose issues and provides recommendations to support business strategies and objectives.

The Senior Workforce Systems reports directly to the Senior Director or Director of Workforce Management Systems. We seek candidates who are ready for the challenge, eager to grow within a dynamic, results-oriented team, and are willing to perform additional duties as assigned.

What You Will Do



  • Lead and oversee large, complex engagements, providing a forward-looking perspective to aid leadership in making critical decisions.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in SQL, Access and Excel. Have experience with statistical programming languages (e.g., R, Python) and visualization tools like PowerBI or Tableau, or the ability to quickly learn on the job.
  • Collaborate closely with enterprise partners to develop a new Workforce Management technology roadmap.
  • Engage and collaborate with a variety of business partners, including Macy's Technology, Talent Acquisition, HR Technology, Compensation, Colleague Support, Legal, Labor Relations, Store Operations, Supply Chain, Product, Credit and Customer Service, Bloomingdale's, Blue Mercury, Transformation Office, Store Communication, and Product teams. Work with them on Charters and Strategies to understand their needs and develop tailored solutions.
  • Collaborate with external partners such as Call Design, UKG, Industry Partners, Microsoft, Genesys, and Outsource partners regarding platform technology.
  • Facilitate cross-functional training within the current team.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for inquiries related to Workforce Management platforms.
  • Provide support for Scheduling and Timekeeping regulations.
  • Apply strategic thinking and hypothesis-based consulting to reframe complex questions into analytical problems and provide insightful solutions.

  • Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands/fingers to touch, handle, and feel. Occasionally required to move about the workplace and reach with hands and arms. Requires close vision.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.


Skills You Will Need

Leadership and Strategic Vision: The ability to guide and inspire a team, drive large-scale initiatives, and provide a forward-looking perspective that assists leadership in making crucial decisions for the organization's future.

Technical Proficiency: Highly Proficient in SQL, Access, Excel, statistical programming languages (e.g., R, Python), and visualization tools (e.g., PowerBI, Tableau) with the ability to build processes and tools to be used by the WFM team supporting business strategies. It involves the ability to analyze data, identify patterns, and derive meaningful insights to inform decision-making.

Collaboration and Partnership: The capacity to work effectively with internal and external partners, actively seeking input, understanding diverse needs, and building mutually beneficial relationships to achieve common goals.

Regulatory and Process Knowledge: Understanding and supporting regulations and processes related to scheduling and timekeeping.

Communication and Negotiation: The ability to express ideas and information clearly and effectively to diverse audiences. Negotiation skills involve reaching agreements, resolving conflicts, and facilitating successful collaborations through effective communication and compromise.
