Mission

As Design Reviewer and Quality Lead, your mission will be to ensure that all safety/technical/production/legal/regulatory and environmental aspects of new product development are adhered to and complied with and provide input for the divisional Product Compliance & Legislation Specialist on local legislation requirements. You will take ownership of the design review and qualification principles outlined in the Concept to Product process. Your dedication to this function will be to drive product quality through robust and detailed product documentation evidence coordinated with all departments. Your goal is to ensure 100% product conformance to technical specifications, DRQ, and DFMEA documentation quality upon serial production start.

Roles and Responsabilities

Design Review




  • Review and evaluate design submissions for accuracy, quality, and adherence to company standards (in both projects & product care).
  • Be a C-to-P 2.0 champion and give support/guidance to local team.
  • Have regular communication with the Divisional Design Reviewers regarding product changes, phase-in and phase-out of products and parts, lessons learned, FQM/TCM points and emerging issues, and adopting engineering best practices.
  • Organize and lead the design review meetings with the local design team, in all phases of the project, closely involving and aligning with the Divisional Design Reviewer.
  • Advise the PCM on project quality & completeness. Present objective assessment with evidence of the project status and advise the go/no go continuance of the project during local and divisional PCM's.
  • Project assessment must be unbiased and independent from project pressures to speed time to market at the expense of quality.
  • Safeguard all quality processes in the local engineering team (PLM processes, release processes, TCM processes, root cause analysis, reporting, competence management, ...) Make sure the local processes stay aligned with the divisional processes.
  • Document the results of the Design Review process as outlined in the Concept to Product (C-to-P) new product development (NPD) gated process for all milestones. This includes:

    • Feasibility Design Preview and Master Specification Review
    • Product Process Design Review
    • Product Process Introduction Review
    • Pilot Batch Qualification


  • Escalate to Team & Functional Managers 'Next' and 'Blocker' items monthly.
  • Ensure all designs meet regulatory and compliance requirements and provide input for the divisional Product Compliance & Legislation Specialist on local legislation requirements
  • Safeguard all quality processes in the local engineering team (PLM processes, release processes, TCM processes, root cause analysis, reporting, competence management, ...) Make sure the local processes stay aligned with the divisional processes.
  • While not actually performing the deliverables, you will ensure the collection and verification of project documentation. This includes:

    • Engineering and production assembly instructions are clear and concise.
    • Engineering tests have been performed and comply with Master Specification requirements.
    • Proper documentation of DRQ, DFMEA and PFMEA are up to date, accurate, thorough and complete.
    • Production and test passport documentation are complete and correct.
    • Safety and service reviews are documented, and all necessary comments are up to date.
    • Environmental & Safety requirements are adhered to including production line safety and tooling safety audits.
    • The product compliance to corrosion resistance expectations.
    • Component part first article qualification is verified and documented.
    • All new supplier audits are completed by SQA.
    • Critical components are identified and appropriately serialized.
    • All relevant PCT files were created and validated with Engineering and Marketing.
    • All required Marketing and Service activities related to product qualification are complete.
    • Present an.


  • Perform other duties as assigned.



Reporting Requirements




  • This role must be unbiased and independent from project pressures to speed time to market at the expense of quality.
  • Write monthly progress reports of the health of projects and test activities to both APE & PFL Engineering Managers.
  • Create and report on key performance indicators for your work.



Cross Functional Activity




  • Provide technical expertise for PT products to the Marketing and Technical Service areas.
  • Support engineering product testing with troubleshooting of machines.
  • Interact with international colleagues in collaboration projects and best practices.

What we expect of you?

Qualifications

Supervisory Responsibility: None

Experience



  • Sound project management experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of mechanical engineering in a design related function in a manufacturing company. 5-7 years minimum as a Project Engineer or 3 years as an NPD Team Leader.
  • Possess high competence of the Concept to Product process within Atlas Copco Power Technique business area.
  • Have excellent knowledge of diesel engine technology with prior experience working with diesel driven portable equipment a definite plus.



Education

Bachelor degree in Physics, Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering is required. A Master degree in Engineering is preferred.

Have exceptional communication and personal interaction skills.
