Summary: The Scheduler/Biller is responsible for receiving, greeting, scheduling, and obtaining vital patient information for the Kornberg School of Dentistry. Primarily the Receptionist/Scheduler will be responsible for serving as a first point of contact for patients both in person and over the phone. The Scheduler/Biller will interact with the patient in a friendly and welcoming environment, schedule and confirm appointments in the Axium system, and coordinate patient registration with the business office. The Scheduler/Biller will also inform patients of payments due at the time of services provided and will direct patients to the Cashier Office with a prepared Treasurers Receipt for payment. In addition, the Scheduler/Biller will be responsible for the entire range of billing functions related to the practice. This will include manual and electronic billing, insurance verification and preauthorization, payment reconciliation, verifying patient's financial information, and follow-up on denied claims or claims requiring additional information. Other responsibilities will include maintaining office inventory, coordinating faculty schedules with other departments, distributing incoming correspondences, managing and tracking reports for hygiene recalls, and serving as a liaison between the department and the Dental School, the University, and other external contacts. Required Education & Experience: At least 3 years of directly related experience within a dental, medical, or higher education environment including experience with medical or dental billing and working with insurance companies. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Required Skills & Abilities: *Must be able to work with a diverse population of students, faculty, staff, and other external contacts. *Demonstrated knowledge of third-party billing, and insurance verifications. *Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service. *Demonstrated knowledge of financial records. *Demonstrated experience working with patients with their financial status of their accounts. *Must have great attention to detail and sound judgments with the ability to make independent decision. *Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and organizational and interpersonal skills. *Ability to multitask and prioritize work. Preferred: *Bachelor's degree in a related field such as medical administration, accounting or finance. *Previous experience with Axium. This position requires a background check.
